What is MDM?

Mobile Device Management (MDM) software secures; monitors, manages and supports mobile devices deployed across mobile operators, service providers and enterprises. MDM functionality typically includes over-the-air distribution of applications, data and configuration settings for all types of mobile devices.

 

Why do I need MDM?

  • If your organisation needs or wants to support a variety of mobile devices.
  • If your organisation is using ActiveSync to connect mobile devices to your email platform.
  • If your employees are purchasing their own devices and now asking to be connected to corporate resources.
  • If you need visibility into what mobile devices are being connected via ActiveSync.
  • If you need centralised control to manage, monitor, and support your mobile users.
  • If you need to enforce some level of security policies across all mobile devices.
  • If you need proprietary organisational information to be protected on every mobile device.

 

How do I transfer information between iPhones?

To transfer settings and content from your current iPhone to a new iPhone, follow these steps:

 

  • Download the latest version of iTunes to your computer.
  • Connect your current iPhone to iTunes and sync it. If you are syncing your contacts check them to make sure they are all up to date.
  • If you save your contacts to your computer check to see if they are showing on your computer.
  • Connect your new iPhone to iTunes (on the same computer you used to back up your current iPhone).
  • iTunes will ask you if you want to restore from a backup or set up your new iPhone as a new phone. When prompted, select the backup of your current iPhone for the upgrade to complete.
  • After iTunes finishes restoring the backup you selected to your new iPhone, let the iPhone restart.
  • When your new iPhone appears again in the iTunes window, select it.
  • Click the tabs (Music, Photos, and so on) and verify or change the items you want to sync.
  • Click Apply to sync your new iPhone with iTunes.
  • If saved SMS messages, emails, photos, notes or other settings are not present on your new iPhone you can use your original back up stage 2) to restore your iPhone.

 

How do I transfer information between BlackBerry’s?

To transfer settings and content from your current BlackBerry to a new BlackBerry:

 

  • Download the latest version of BlackBerry desktop manager to your computer.
  • Connect your current BlackBerry to your computer.
  • Go to the Device drop down menu on the top left corner of the window. Select switch device.
  • When your current device is displayed click on it to select it.
  • Tick the boxes to transfer Device Data and Third Party Applications.
  • Click next and let the BlackBerry Desktop Manager back up your information.
  • Once the back-up has completed connect your new device as instructed.
  • Select your new BlackBerry on the Desktop Manager and run the transfer.
  • Once completed make sure to check that the new device has the same information as the old one.
